Covey Security

Advanced Firearms Training for Security Guards in Arizona

Train the Covey Way

PHILOSOPHY

Licensing is the minimum. Readiness is the standard.

Arizona DPS requires a 16-hour course and an 8-hour annual refresher to keep a guard armed. That covers the license. It says nothing about the philosophy behind the trigger.

Covey Security trains armed guards on a different standard: de-escalate first, and when de-escalation is off the table, resolve the situation decisively and fast. Underneath all of it, judgment under pressure. If you already shoot well, this is where you find out how well.

Why Train With Covey Security

Competence

Covey guards train past the state minimum, continuously, in threat assessment, de-escalation, and liability reduction. The state requires a refresher once a year, but we don’t wait that long.

Communication

Every armed post is backed by a 24/7 command center, real-time incident reporting, and a dedicated point of contact.

Confidence

You earned your card. This program is where that becomes composure under pressure: the ability to read a situation, de-escalate it, or end it decisively. Clients notice the difference. So will you.

The refresher keeps a license current. Covey Security’s advanced firearms training in Arizona builds skills the refresher never touches: malfunction clearance under stress, fire while moving, barricade work, and weapon transitions.

The opposite. The program trains guards to de-escalate first and, when that’s off the table, resolve a situation decisively and fast. Prolonged confrontations are a failure state, not a goal.
